Hello!

My name is Eddie Profet, Jr. I was born in Manhattan, New York, lived in Brooklyn until I was 6, then moved to Bayside, Queens. My first musical instrument was the clarinet which I played in 4th grade. In 5th grade, I switched to trumpet after hearing “The Lonely Bull” by Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass. I started playing guitar at 17. I never took lessons. I’m self-taught and I play by ear since I can’t read music.

At 21, I joined my first band, called Moonwolf (we never made it out of the basement) and I’ve been in bands ever since. After Moonwolf came Baby Blue, Risque, DVS, The Late Show, Green Wilma, Boomerang, and X-Session. Most of these were cover bands.

I now play with the Doobie Brothers tribute, The Doobie Others. I also play with the Incredible AM/FM Time Machine, the acoustic duo ThemAgain, the Beatles acoustic trio Norwegian Wood, and the rock band Section 12. In addition to being a sub for the bands Wonderous Stories and Streetfighter, I’m part of a future George Harrison tribute (as yet unnamed). My primary instrument since 1991 is the bass guitar (my influences are Paul McCartney, Peter Cetera, John Lodge, Mike Mills, and Dee Murray).

My favorite music is classic and alternative rock and classic R&B. My favorite rock artists are the Beatles (together and apart), the Eagles (and Don Henley), Chicago, the Moody Blues, Elton John, Squeeze, and Sheryl Crow, to name a few. Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Spinners, The Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, The Miracles, and The O’jays are my favorite R&B artists.

My first album, “To whom it may concern…” was released in 2019. It was a thrill for me to finally release a CD of original music. I wrote all the songs and played all the instruments on the album. Then in 2021, I released my second album, “Take Me Back Home”. Again, I wrote each song and pretty much played all the instruments (my daughter played flute on one song). And now in 2024, I’ve released my third album of original music, “This Old Guitar”, and I’m currently working on album number 4.

First and foremost, I have to thank my partners in crime for their help in the recordings of these albums: David Merrill, my engineer and co-producer, and Fred Guarino, who mastered the recordings at his studio, Tiki Recording Studios in Glen Cove, New York. True friends (and Beatles and Star Trek fans) that I can’t thank enough!

Thanks to the folks at Disc Makers for manufacturing the CDs and distributing them, both physically and digitally.

I’m lucky to be surrounded by extremely talented musicians here in the Long Island area: Jim D., Pat M., Mike Q., Allan K., Ron L., Joe T., Kenny F., Ricky M., Kevin M., Ed R., Andrew L., Janet M., Joe D., Mike P., Godfrey T., Michael A., Rich Z., Richie N., John M., Al C., and Amy L. Thanks for allowing me to play music with you! (Sorry if I left anyone out)!

Friends that have been with me since my early days of performing: Joe D., Artie B., Bobby T., Frank P.

My first songwriting partner and dear friend Chrissie.

All my friends that I’ve made over the years while performing with X-Session, The Doobie Others, Norwegian Wood, ThemAgain, and Wonderous Stories.

My mother and father, brothers and sister, my relatives on both sides of the family, and last but not least, Jakki and Diana. I thank everyone for their support and love!

And now onto album #4….
